HOLI CELEBRATION
Holi is a famous festival celebrated by the people of Hindu religion
in India. All the Indians equally eager to celebrate Holi. Holi is a colourful festival. Holi festival is
celebrated in the month of March on the day of Pournami in Falgun Month.
During Holi colours are used to show Intimacy to one another and it contribute
for a togetherness among people.
People play with different colours and after the colourful play Thandai (a
type of drink) is served to all those who were playing Holi. Holi is celebrated in the memory of Victory
of goodness over evil the Hiranya Kashipu a cruel character in the historical
period. Hiranya Kashipu has got super natural powers from Lord
Brahma. Out of these powers Hiranya Kashipu was so arrogant that he even
claimed to be super power and argued that everybody should obey his orders and ordered to
preach him instead of all the other super powers like Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva
and Lord Brahma.
But the small kid "Prahlada" was an exception that he never prayed
and gave attention to Hirnaykashipu but always prayed Lord Vishnu as his idol
of intimacy. Prahalada was only five years’ old then, when the
Hiranyakashipu's order came but the kid Prahlada never obeyed his orders.
Hiranyakashipu felt harassed and he decided to kill Prahlada and this decision
of killing his son, he tried suffice through his sister Holika. Holika has got
a power to be alive in the Agni(fire) from Agnideva. This special power inspired
her to do the crime. She went into the Agni(fire) along with Prahlada but
Prahlada with his devotion to Lord Vishnu get out of the Agni(fire) without any
problem. But Holika remain in the fire and she was unable to escape as
the power given to her was for a single body and not for two bodies, so she
failed in her attempt to get out of the fire. This caused unnatural death
of Holika. Afterwards by taking the Avatar of “Narasimha” Lord Vishnu attacked
Hiranyakashipu and through a stunning fight killed him. To commemorate the
success of goodness over evil every year Holi and Dhuleti(Rang Holi) is being celebrated. Holi is celebrated on the first day and on
the next day Dhuleti(Rang Holi) festival is being celebrated in India.
People also pray in the memory of Prahlada, who lived a strong
life and stand out for goodness by placing some Pooja materials with a candle
in their hand pay tribute to both Prahlada and Holika, thereafter, the Demon
Holika’s effigy is being vandalized into fire in front of a large gathering to
realize Demon Holika’s end.
